Equitable Platform for AI in Medicine

Human+AI Collaborative Systems for Better Decision-Making

Fall 2024 - Present
Partners: DHEP Lab, LUPA Lab

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer death in the US, with significant disparities among underserved populations, including ethnic/racial subgroups, rural residents, and individuals with lower educational levels. AI-based tools offer a promising approach to improve cancer screening and address these disparities, but their design must avoid incorporating bias.

Our project focuses on developing equitable cancer risk prediction algorithms and exploring how AI predictions affect decision-making. Your role in the project will be to configure and maintain an experimental platform where we collect provider response data to evaluate decision mechanisms, and handle the connection and deployment of initial ML models.
